Ben Nghe

Review of Dining Experience at Ben Nghe - District 1, Ho Chi Minh City

Introduction

By chance, I was invited by friends to explore a new restaurant right in the center of District 1, and I chose Ben Nghe as a stop for the weekend evening. It’s not a completely unfamiliar name, but for me, visiting here for the first time left a lot of memorable impressions. I want to share with everyone an ideal dining spot while also preserving the genuine feelings of an ordinary diner.

General Introduction

Ben Nghe is located right in the center of District 1, making it easy to find as it is situated on a bustling street. The restaurant has a spacious area, designed with traditional Vietnamese elements but still infused with a bit of modernity, creating a very cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It is suitable for groups of friends, families, or casual dates.

The service style here leans towards traditional cuisine, but the presentation is very meticulous, and the space is airy, with an outdoor area for those who enjoy an open atmosphere. I think anyone who loves authentic Vietnamese food and wants to find a place that is both delicious and has a beautiful space for conversation will definitely find Ben Nghe a great choice.

Detailed Experience

As soon as I stepped in, I felt the friendliness of the staff. The staff wore traditional ao dai, and their cheerful and pleasant attitude made me feel very comfortable. The interior is decorated with many lanterns and pictures that reflect Southern culture, creating a space that is both luxurious and familiar.

What I liked most was the diverse menu, featuring many Southern specialties such as caramelized fish, sour soup, Vietnamese pancakes, and fresh salads. I ordered a portion of caramelized fish and shrimp and pork spring rolls, while my friend chose Quang noodles and shrimp cakes. The dishes were beautifully presented, with rich flavors that were true to Southern cuisine, easy to eat, and not too greasy. The caramelized fish had a fragrant smell of fresh fish, and the sauce was rich, making it truly delightful when paired with hot white rice.

The service at the restaurant is also commendable. I asked the staff about the dishes, and they were very enthusiastic, explaining each dish in detail. While eating, my friend accidentally spilled some water, and the staff immediately rushed over to help clean up, maintaining a very professional attitude without making me feel bothered.

A small memory is when I was about to pay, I noticed a small beautiful lotus flower vase on the table. When I asked, the staff shared that it was fresh lotus flowers that are regularly replaced to help customers have a closer experience with nature. I found this small detail to be truly lovely and thoughtful.

  • Disadvantages:
  • Prices are a bit high compared to some other traditional restaurants, which may not be suitable for those looking to dine on a budget.

  • The restaurant can be quite crowded during peak hours, and without a reservation, you may have to wait a long time.

Conclusion

In summary, Ben Nghe is a very suitable place for those who want to enjoy traditional Southern dishes in a beautiful, quiet, and polite atmosphere. It is also an ideal spot for gathering friends, dating, or hosting family meetings. I highly rate the caramelized fish and spring rolls here and will definitely return to try more dishes.

If you are a fan of Vietnamese cuisine and want to find a place that is both delicious and has a beautiful space, don’t miss out on Ben Nghe. However, if you want to eat quickly and cheaply, you might consider other options as the prices here are mid-range to high.
